Head of Manufacturing – shape your OWN function with scaling Medical Device company!
One of the fastest growing Medical Device companies in the UK are looking for their first Head of Manufacturing.
They are looking to transform the way medical care is given and administered. The company has designed a medical device and associated software and services that is designed to both free up doctors time, and free up patients time from the demands of having to constantly come into hospital. This mission drives everything they do – to help people!
You would be their first Head of Manufacturing. So it will be YOUR function to shape. You will be working directly with the CEO to roll out the expansion of their manufacturing across the UK and Europe, grow the team and take responsibility for current partnerships.
Currently all of the manufacturing is outsourced, so you will be need to be comfortable working with and managing third party relationships, and experienced in driving improvements and seeking out and establishing new manufacturing relationships as they expand.
They are scaling very rapidly – they have doubled in size in the last year from 20 to 40 people, with similar plans this year. They are backed by some of the biggest pharmaceutical companies in the world.

This is an ideal role for someone in a Lead Manufacturing capacity looking to make a step up to the next level, or a Head/Director of Manufacturing looking to work for a fast scaling start-up where they can make more of an impact and shape the function. Given the size of the company, at the beginning you will be a doing a mixture of hands on and strategic work, moving to more pure strategic as the company scales.
What do you need?
As a Head of Manufacturing you will need:
- Experience in the medical device sector is MUST
- Strong experience in manufacturing engineering with
- A strategic approach. Have you worked with leadership teams to help improve and shape processes?
- Experience dealing and managing relationships with external manufacturing suppliers
- Ok with getting hands on where needed!
- A passion for work for a startup and to help scale such an organisation

They are paying up to 100k base for the right person, and benefits including good equity options and pension.
Currently it is fully remote due to the pandemic. Whenever the pandemic is over or under control, it will be 2-3 days a week in the office, with the rest working from home.
